Free Creative Design Challenge March 9 - March 11 A free 3-day design challenge to cultivate your creativity, generate new design ideas, and connect with fellow designers Sign Me Up! This Design Challenge is for you if: You enjoy the creative process You're interested in expanding your creativity in new ways You struggle to generate new & unique design ideas that you love Inside, you will receive: daily creative design prompts tips for cultivating your creativity beyond this challenge access to live calls (and replays) where we work through the prompts and share ideas It is also for you if... You're tired of using the same ideas over and over again, struggling to create new design ideas, or out of touch with your creativity in general. The unique design prompts inside this challenge will help you reframe your creative process and generate ideas without pressure for it to be perfect. Creativity that's unique to you. Oh hi there! I'm Jessica, the knitting pattern designer behind Snickerdoodle Knits and facilitator of the Design Circle. I design knitting patterns and mentor budding pattern designers. My college degree is in Architectural Engineering; and I worked in architecture, construction management, and interior design before discovering my passion for designing patterns and mentoring pattern designers. I love DK weight yarn and create designs that share the relatable stories of living. And this is my co-host, Beth. Beth is the crochet designer, tech editor, architectural designer, and mama behind Fig & Filament. She firmly believes that the creative brain is a muscle that can be targeted and developed like any other as she’s spent the last decade doing just that, both personally and professionally. She appreciates the details of a well designed artifact, whether that's a building, a work of yarn, or still a figment of imagination. From engineering to architecture to pattern designing, we have a combined 10 years of formal design training and 8 years of practical design experience. We invite you to join the free Design Challenge. Inside you will find a warm, welcoming designer community that encourages you to be your best self, love your designs, value your accomplishments, and unleash your unique creative journey. Join the Free Challenge How It Works The Design Challenge encourages you to develop at least one design idea per day based on a given prompt that will make you think "outside the box." These aren’t your typical design prompts. You won’t receive any prompts that tell you what to design, or even what kinds of shapes or techniques to use in your design. Instead, the design prompts give you inspiration from things, places, people, concepts, and emotions that are familiar to you. You won’t immediately have a design idea. Instead, you’ll be led on a creative thought journey, guided by your brain’s response to the prompt, which often seems entirely unrelated to knit and crochet pattern designing. The process to create your design idea takes about 30 minutes in total and will occur during the daily video calls. Here's what folks say about the design challenge: So. Much. Fun. AND I've got several legit ideas I will be using! I didn't quite get the chance to do all of them but I have the ones I didn't get to saved to work through later. Can't wait for the next one!! Trish I’ve worked my way through a few series of creativity prompts with Jessica now, both in the Design Circle and as part of 52 Weeks of Creativity. I love the intentionality of setting aside a small block of time for design on whatever day I approach them. The prompts are great too, but a little guidance while establishing the mindset that it’s worth making time for yourself to just sit and be creative - with no deadlines, goals or pressure - is irreplaceable. Beth (yes, that's my co-host!) I participated in Creativity Burst for the 1st time. It was very interesting, fun, and unusual for me, and definitely different from my routine of creating design ideas. After a week of prompts, I got 5 solid ideas that I plan to convert to patterns. If you have never done it before, it's worth the try to look at the creative process from a different angle. Natalia I had so much fun thinking outside of my typical 'box.' I found it really interesting to pay attention to my thought process, and then identify ideas that fit me/my brand - and ideas that don't fit my brand. The problem is I now have a few design ideas I really love... and I already have all my pattern spots filled for the next 2 years. I might have to do some rearranging... Jessica (yes, that's me!) Join the Free Challenge Now FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q: Can I join even if I'm not a designer (yet)? A: Absolutely! The Design Challenge will be a great opportunity to explore design ideas without needing to know "how" the design would come to life. The Design Challenge prompts are applicable to any creative interested in generating new ideas! Q: I am a crochet pattern designer. May I join the Design Challenge? A: Yes, please join us! The principles for creativity and design are the same for knitting and crochet. Q: What happens after I sign up? When will I have access to the Design Challenge? A: After joining the free Design Challenge, you will receive an email from me confirming that you're signed up for the challenge. In that email, you will receive the call schedule for the challenge. The Design Challenge, including the prompts and live calls, will begin Thursday, March 9. You will receive the design prompts and are welcome to exchange design ideas on the live calls. If you are unable to attend the calls live, replays and prompts will be available for a limited time. Join the Free Challenge Privacy Policy Terms & Conditions Disclaimer © Snickerdoodle Knits 2023

Creative design prompts for knit and crochet pattern designers, delivered weekly for a year. By the end, you'll have 52+ new design ideas. *Sometimes, when the creativity starts flowing, it's hard to get it to stop. I'll often end with 3-5 design ideas from one of the design prompts. What's cool about that is then you can choose which are your absolute favorites to turn into patterns! Not every design idea needs to become a pattern. Inside 52 Weeks of Creativity, you will receive a new design prompt each week for a year (or, if you’d rather, 52 weeks). But these aren’t your typical design prompts. You won’t receive any prompts that tell you what to design, or even what kinds of shapes or techniques to use in your design. Instead, the design prompts give you inspiration from things, places, people, concepts, and emotions that are familiar to you. You won’t immediately have a design idea. This concept was birthed for the Pattern Design Circle’s week-long Creativity Burst Challenges, where participants have given it a 5-star rating with raving reviews. So. Much. The problem is I now have a few design ideas I really love... and I already have all my pattern spots filled for the next 2 years. I might have to do some rearranging... Jessica (yes, that's me!) I loved the Creativity Burst Challenge so much that I wanted to make the prompts available to more people and in a more consistent format... and that is how 52 Weeks of Creativity was born! Now, I'm delighted to have many more happy designers enjoying this process. Here's what folks are saying about 52 Weeks of Creativity: The 52 Weeks of Creativity has been a delight! That bit of inspiration coming through my inbox each week has been a wonderful reminder to tap into my creative spirit in such a fun and unique way. Jill Tamminen from Knit Sisu 52 Weeks of Creativity is a fabulous way to bring your designs to the next level. No matter what level you start at, or whether thinking of designs is easy or difficult. Each email includes a prompt whether words, pictures, or ideas, and then you get to take it where you want to. Sometimes I would see a prompt and immediately think, that's not going to inspire me. But I was wrong Every Single Time. Sitting with an idea and letting your creativity take over is so thrilling. I can't wait to flush out and publish designs that were inspired through the 52 Weeks of Creativity! Lois of OzzyLosi Knit Designs While I enjoyed the process itself and appreciated the idea generation that came with it, the biggest benefit to me was completely unexpected. As an introvert, I find it difficult with strangers to find the right amount of storytelling that balances a comfortable amount of vulnerability - neither sterile nor oversharing. This challenge brought many stories to mind that I feel are worth sharing, and clearly outlining my thought path of key words really helped crystallize the stories into digestible but coherent and authentic content that I can use moving forward. Jessica Marks Creativity Challenge participant Oh hi there! And I invite you to join me for 52 Weeks of Creativity. What Will You Receive? One prompt delivered every week for the next 52 weeks (well, and we might've slipped in a few pieces of bonus content with tips and tricks for pattern designing) via your course portal with Full Circle Entrepreneurship. Inside the course you will receive: The weekly creative design prompt My signature Creative Thought Journey process Quarterly bonus content Get Creative for just $21 Additional Details On What's Inside WHAT TO EXPECT The 52 Weeks of Creativity design prompts are not the kind of prompts you’d typically expect to see in a call for submissions. Instead, the prompts are open-ended and may seem completely unrelated to pattern designing. I've done that intentionally. While a magazine wants their submissions to come together as a cohesive whole, I want your design ideas to be completely unique to you and your experiences. The design prompts will give you inspiration from things, places, people, concepts, and emotions you probably don't use as a source of inspiration. THE FORMAT You will receive one prompt per week for 52 weeks, delivered via a course in ThriveCart. The design prompts are typically formatted as one statement, photo, or video. They intentionally don’t start with “Create a design that…” because I want you to travel on an idea journey that leads you to your design(s); I don’t want the design idea to be the first step. Are you ready to unlock new levels of pattern design creativity? Join Now FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q: Is it $21 for the full 52 weeks? A: Yep, just (1) one-time payment of $21! No strings attached. No monthly payments. Q: What if I'm new to designing? A: That is completely fine! You don't need to know anything about how to make the idea work in order to have ideas. And 52 Weeks of Creativity is all about the ideas! It's even possible that some makers would join just to exercise their creativity and without any intention of creating any designs (although they might fall in love with their ideas so much that they change their mind...). Q: What if I can't complete one design idea per week? A: No worries. There's no rush and no competition. However, I recommend spending just 20-30 minutes on a prompt, so you can probably find time in most weeks! And if not, you'll have access to the propmts to refer to when you do have time. Q: Who is 52 Weeks of Creativity for? A: 52 Weeks of Creativity is for the knit or crochet pattern design who is interested in creating designs from a place of creativity that is unique to themselves. It's for the designer who wants to have fun, is willing to let go of expectations of what the idea process should look like Q: What happens after I sign up? When will I have access to prompts? A: As soon as you sign up, you will receive access to the "course" on Thrivecart. You will receive an email confirmation of your payment as well as the link to the course. When you log into the course, you will have instant access to allllll the welcome goodies, including your first (bonus) prompt! After that, you'll receive access to a new prompt every 7 days. I'm Jessica, the knitting pattern designer behind Snickerdoodle Knits, founder of Pattern Design Circle, and coach behind Full Circle Entrepreneurship. I've been designing knitting patterns for over 6 years and mentoring knit and crochet pattern designers for the past 4.5 years. It's my passion to connect with fellow pattern designers (and potential designers!) to share my love of designing, business, and marketing; support them in their journey; and provide them with the resources to build the aligned, sustainable business of their dreams. I know the journey can feel lonely, and it's my mission to help you know you aren't alone. I look forward to seeing you in class! Why might you choose to design patterns? I asked some fellow designers why they design. Here's what they shared! When I started knitting, every new project was a way to explore another technique—and that was before YouTube! Now as a designer and teacher, I get to learn a whole new set of skills and then pass my knowledge on to other knitters. I love the logic and math involved in writing patterns, and the opportunity to show techniques visually in my linked tutorials. Mary Beth Kelso I design knitting patterns to use creativity to test and express ideas that are analytically inspired. I love the opportunity this provides to other makers who want to be challenged and learn new skills while making something they'll be proud to wear or gift. Yvonne Poon, Gamer Babe Knits I started designing because I wanted to create financial freedom for myself. I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit, and with knitwear design I can combine my desire for self-employment and my physical need to create. Megan, Pip & Pin Designing fulfills my creative urge. I love to knit and crochet, but living now in a climate that does not require much knit/wooly clothing, so designing is my ‘excuse’ to dive into creating/making more pieces, in this case not for me, but for others. I like to solve puzzles, and the ‘math’ part of the pattern plus finding the best way and solution for some tricky parts, definitely drives me to do it again and again. In the end, it’s so nice to see how my idea and my instructions transform into someone’s project. @natalia_yarncraft Love It! Sign Me Up! FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q: Can I join even if I'm not a designer (yet)? A: Absolutely!
